Alternate Prologue to The Savage War

Scenes from the Alternate Prologue to The Savage War Cover of the Savage War (If you've never read it, you can preview the actual prologue on Amazon here: https://cstu.io/2f43d7 ) Cheers burst from the plain vessel as Arnacin of Enchantress Island hooked his sister’s arm and swung her in a circle of delight. His ship floated! With long oars, he, his sister, their father, and his best friend had shunted the vessel out into the deep, where they now let it drift beneath the overcast sky. “All you need is a mast and a shelter, Arnacin,” the fourteen-year-old’s father exclaimed, “and you and Raymond are off to sea.” “Just another year, the way we’re going,” his best friend, Raymond, surmised, clapping Arnacin on the back. Being nearly twenty, Raymond stood a whole head taller than his little “adopted” brother, something Arnacin swore would change within that year. “Arnacin,” his father suddenly called in alarm. Whirling, Arnacin spotted the solid curtain of rain ...

The lack of Thanksgiving decorations

Image
A Turkey in a yard from a 'how to' video on Youtube Thanksgiving Decorations Or the lack of them With October over, stores are putting up Thanksgiving dec... or I mean Christmas decorations. There may be a few inflatable turkeys or a turkey figurine here or there, but for the most part, Thanksgiving is not an easy holiday for those who like to decorate their house to match the day. So how about you? Do you find this a problem? Why or why not?

Merlin Reveiw

Image
Merlin Review/Story Plot Unlike the classic image of Merlin as an old, wise wizard, Julian Murphy’s and Johnny Capps’s Merlin rewrites the image. The series starts as a twenty-year-old Merlin travels to Camelot, sent by his mother to her friend, Camelot’s physician, Gaius. Her intention is for the physician to become the father-figure for her fatherless, magical son. It seems easy. Merlin even smiles with excitement as he sees Camelot for the first time, a shining white castle on the horizon. Mood and music quickly alter, however, as the wizard arrives inside the city just in time to witness King Uther’s execution of a person charged with performing magic. As the ax falls, the king commences to remind those gathered that all magic is pure evil and punishable by death. Despite the imminent danger, Merlin finds Gaius and remains in Camelot. And like the naïve boy he is, he shrugs aside his peril, carelessly using his own untrained magic, even in a bout with the young, seem...

Wrinkle in Time Reveiw

Wrinkle in Time Movie Review For those who have no idea what the story is about, Meg Murry's father tessered off planet Earth four years ago. Then three ladies appear (Mrs. Whatsit, Who, and Which), charging Meg, along with her brother and a friend from school, the task of leaving Earth themselves to find the Murry's long lost father. Eventually, their travels lead them to the planet of evil itself, Camazotz, where they are tested beyond all they ever imagined. In a society filled with the wrong ideas about self-worth, it is nice that this film does some things right. Meg starts out in the film as a girl constantly wishing to be other than she is. She is someone who feels ugly, misplaced, and completely alone. As far as she is concerned, she has too many faults and hardly any strengths at all. As she travels outside the world, she slowly comes to realize that she was made with purpose. As Mrs. Which so eloquently says, "Do you realize how many events, choices, tha...

Why the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s Hawkeye deserves more attention

Image
Why the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s Hawkeye deserves more attention When most people talk about the latest Marvel films, very rarely is Hawkeye listed as a favorite or even mentioned at all. Iron man, Thor, the Hulk, and Captain America are the highlights, with extras such as the most recent Black Panther added to them. A large group of “supporters for woman rights” will also discuss Black Widow and why they think she is misused and should receive her own stand-alone film. Whatever the case, the greatest Marvel hero among them remains in the background, in people’s imagination and quite literally. One thing must be remembered or it won’t matter: regardless of religion or beliefs, everyone knows that when trouble comes, it is not the best fighter or the flashiest that makes a hero. Marvel itself states that when they make Captain America a sick kid from a very large city—quite frankly a small nobody. Here’s where they forget that knowledge: Captain America must go through radical ...

Black Phantom Chronicles Card Deck Behind the Scenes Part 11

December 15, 2016  The End of the Beginning Despite unrealistic plans before I started this semester, I feel that I have finished this card deck well. I have a professional looking playing card deck that I am comfortable selling and I had enough fun during the process that I am contemplating making other card decks to sell on the Etsy shop I and my sister have set up, WallaceOfAllTrades . The professionalism has only happened due to lots of pre-planning and self-appraisal. I prepared well enough that difficulties were rare. Now, that wasn’t all because of my planning. Painting is not ruled by a computer chip or clicking codes beneath the surface. All in all, it’s very straight forward. Brushes, paper, acrylics, watercolors, and the like do not possess glitches, freeze suddenly, or corrupt. On thick paper, capable of holding a certain amount of water, one draws an image to their satisfaction, dips their brush in the appropriate colored paint, and draws that paint along t...
